Description
Overview
The Victron CAN-bus Temp. Sensor is a dedicated battery temperature sensor designed for use with the Victron Buck-Boost DC/DC converter range and is an essential accessory when charging LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) batteries.
Lithium batteries require controlled charging at low temperatures to prevent damage. This sensor continuously monitors battery temperature and communicates directly with compatible Victron devices to ensure safe and compliant charging behaviour.
Key Features
Low-Temperature Lithium Protection
- Monitors LFP battery temperature in real time
- Reduces charge current when battery temperature drops below 5 °C
- Stops charging completely when battery temperature drops below 0 °C
Buck-Boost DC/DC Converter Integration
- Connects directly to Victron Buck-Boost DC/DC converters via CAN-bus
- Automatically manages charge behaviour based on battery temperature
- Ensures lithium batteries are protected during cold conditions
Multi & Quattro Compatibility
- Can be connected to the temperature sensor terminal of a Multi or Quattro
- Allows inverter/chargers to reduce or stop charging at low temperatures
- Improves system-wide lithium battery protection
System Safety & Reliability
- Essential for lithium systems operating in cold climates
- Supports long battery life and safe charging practices
